Professor Wins Award for Environmental Statistics
David Borchers, Professor of Statistics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, has been awarded the 2024 Barnett Award of the Royal Statistical Society for outstanding contributions to the field of environmental statistics. David has been instrumental in developing new and accessible methodologies in wildlife monitoring and conservation, including mark-recapture, distance sampling and unifying many observation models for detecting and counting animals.
