Double Success for Maths Professor
Professor Jon Fraser has been awarded the Sir Edmund Whittaker Memorial Prize of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society for an outstanding early career mathematician who has a Scottish connection. The award was “in recognition of his outstanding research achievements in the fields of dynamics and fractal geometry". The prize was presented at an EMS meeting in St Andrews, where the President, Tara Brendle, referred to Jon’s pioneering work on dimension interpolation and on Assouad dimension, including his seminal book on the subject.
Jon was one of 57 new Fellows from the worlds of business, science, creative arts, informatics, literature, law and social sciences to be elected to The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland’s National Academy, in April 2024.
