Elizabeth Martize was a Dutch woman and widow of Andrew Murray, a sergeant in Captain William Murray’s company of Colonel George Ramsay’s regiment of the Scots-Dutch Brigade. During the Scottish Highland War (1689-92) her husband was killed at the battle of Killiecrankie, 27th July 1689. After his death she petitioned the Scottish Privy Council for financial assistance to return to the Dutch Republic alongside two other widows (Janerus Milne [SSNE 8286] and Elizabeth Stevensone [SSNE 8288]).The Council granted the three women five Rijksdaalders each to pay for their passage home.
