MILNE, JANERUS [SSNE 8286]
Text source
Janerus Milne was a Dutch woman and widow of Alexander Milne, a soldier in Captain Everard Halkett’s company of Colonel George Ramsay’s regiment of the Scots-Dutch Brigade. During the Scottish Highland War (1689-92) her husband was killed at the battle of Killiecrankie, 27th July 1689. After his death she petitioned the Scottish Privy Council for financial assistance to return to the Dutch Republic alongside two other widows (Elizabeth Stevensone [SSNE 8287] and Elizabeth Martize [SSNE 8288]). The Council granted the three women five Rijksdaalders each to pay for their passage home.
