Samuel Hytthon was of Scottish, English and Swedish heritage. He was the great-grandson of the Scot Elin Lindsay [SSNE 6328]. His parents were Malin Olufsdotter and John Hytthon [SSNE 6330] who was born in Berwick and was summoned to Sweden in 1632 by his widowed grandmother Elin Lindsay. John Hytthon worked as a merchant in Norrkoping where Samuel was born on 21 September 1664. He became a local landlord in Vifolka, Valkebo, Kinda and Ydre in Ostergotland in August 1698. He was ennobled in 1717 with the name of Lindsfeldt. Hytthon had two wives and numerous childrenSvenska Adelns Attartavlor, vol. 1, p.625 and vol. 5, p.34.
