Samuel Hytthon was of Scottish, English and Swedish heritage. He was the great-grandson of the Scot Elin Lindsay [SSNE 6328]. His parents were Malin Olufsdotter and John Hytthon [SSNE 6330] who was born in Berwick and was summoned to Sweden in 1632 by his widowed grandmother Elin Lindsay. John Hytthon worked as a merchant in Norrkoping where Samuel was born on 21 September 1664. He became a local landlord in Vifolka, Valkebo, Kinda and Ydre in Ostergotland in August 1698. He was ennobled in 1717 with the name of Lindsfeldt. Hytthon had two wives and numerous children
