Projects
The QuVis St Andrews Quantum Mechanics Visualisation project consists of research-based interactive simulations for the learning and teaching of quantum mechanics concepts at university level.
The Physics & Astronomy Widening Access (Gateway) Programme has flexible modules that are tailored each year to the 15 students who enrol in the Gateway Programme and are designed to improve problem solving, laboratory and study skills as well as helping to develop basic physics and maths understanding.
Microcontroller boards provide a relevant and engaging platform with which to introduce physics students to programming, due to the ease with which they may be connected to external sensors and output devices. We use the popular Arduino platform, with its well developed IDE, to introduce students to the key programming concepts of variables, functions, loops and decision making, concepts that will be important in later computational exercises in any language.
