Sir Archibald Douglas served as a captain in Sir Charles Morgan's [SSNE 6893] British army in Denmark for two months in the summer of 1627. He arrived on the continent in the company of Captain Francis Cunningsby [SSNE 285] and was instructed to receive his orders from Robert Anstruther inthe absence of Sir Charles Morgan. Anstruther directed these men to Bremen after which they linked up with Morgan. Douglas had command of 1150 soldiers drawn mainly from London. He later approached the English Privy Council for his back pay, which they granted with a bonus two month payment. Confer [SSNE 428].
