Philip Mowbray was an officer in the Scots Brigade between 1607-1626. He was commissioned as captain on 2 January 1607. In 1608 he commanded 85 men with a salary of £1229, but between 1610-1617 his command sank to 70 men, £1059. On 26 May 1613 he married Margrieta Wilke while garrsioned in Nijmegen. He was dead by 23 February 1626 and was succeeded by Captain William Brog [SSNE 8020].
