Remarkably little information has been recorded by Ferguson on Sergeant-Major Thomas Ewing (Brog's [SSNE 7842] regiment), despite the fact that Ewing appears to have served in this capacity for at least 18 years. Ewing first appears as regimental sergeant-major in 1599. Between 1607-1609 a pension/endowment of £80. In 1610 his pay was £30/month, but in 1613 and 1617 he was back to a pension/endowment of £80. He was succeeded in 1617 by William Drummond [SSNE 8010] for unknown reasons.
