Andrew Thomson was the son of Patrick Thomson [SSNE 6475]. On 19 June 1685, Patrick wrote to Andrew Russell [SSNE 143] noting that he had sent for his son and John Grinock [SSNE 7196] to join him in Sweden. They had not arrived by 27 June but were on their way. A letter from James Thomson names his nephew as Andrew Thomson and notes that he was in Sweden in the summer of 1686
