Jacob Ludwig was the son of David Maclean [SSNE 3023] and his wife, Eleonora Elisabet von Ascheberg. He was baptised on 14 June 1697 and his godparents included his uncle Gustav [SSNE 4690], Captain Sinclair and his wife, and the widow of General James Duncan [SSNE 277]. His siblings were Rutger [SSNE 6096], Johan Philip [SSNE 6954], Johan Adolph [SSNE 6095], Magdalena Eleonora [SSNE 6953] and Marianna [SSNE 6957]. Joacob joined the army as a volunteer in 1712 and later served as both NCO and officer. His highest rank was as Captain of Horse in the Skånska Cavalry. He died on 30 August 1755 at Brodda estate, Slimminge parish, Skåne in South Sweden.
