DICKSON, THOMAS [SSNE 5321]
Text source
On 2 January 1583 King Stephen of Poland officially granted 8 Scotsmen the freedom to ply their trade for the Polish court. This was given in recognition of the Scots merchants' service to the court, which was engaged in a hostile campaign against Muscovy. Thomas Dixon was one of these 8 merchants. This is probably the same Thomas Dixon who became a citizen of Cracow in 1598. In 1602 a Thomas Dixon was summoned before the court in Cracow to act as the legal representative for John Strachan [SSNE 5606] during his absence in Leipsig. This may have been this Thomas Dixon, or it may have been his father [SSNE 5091]. He may have been the father of that Thomas Dixon who was a burgess of Cracow in 1621A.F.
