DIXON, THOMAS [SSNE 5091]
Text source
In 1602 a Thomas Dixon was summoned before the court in Cracow to act as the legal representative for John Strachan [SSNE 5606] during his absence in Leipsig. This may have been this Thomas Dixon, or it may have been his father [SSNE]. In 1621 Thomas Dyxon, a trader, provided proof of his genealogy, took the aoth and became a citizen of Cracow, but did not need to pay anything as he was a patrician. In 1623 Dyxon summoned two witnesses to testify to his genealogy: John Fryier (SSNE 5098), also a burgess of Cracow, and Alexander Dixon (probably SSNE 5089). They testified that Dyxon was the son of the Scots Thomas Dixon and Helen HalamA.F. Steuart, Papers relating to the Scots in Poland 1576-1793, Edinburgh, 1915, pp.44-45, p.75; Lib. Jur. Civ. Crac. 1555-1612, fo.866; Cons. Crac 1630-1637.
