Thomas Moffat was an officer in Swedish service. He was an ensign in Johan Skytte's [SSNE 6280] regiment from 1635-1636. He was presumably related to Major Thomas Moffat [SSNE 3018] in the same regiment

Swedish Krigsarkiv, Muster Roll, 1635/31,32; 1636/20-23.

It was probably this man who served as major to the Tweedale Foot in the Army of the Solemn League and Covenant in 1644.See A list of the Several Regiments and Chief Officers of the Scottish Army quartered neer Newcastle (London 1644); Ed.
