Johan Vilhelm Douglies was an officer in Swedish service. He was either a Scot, or certainly of Scottish descent. He was noted as first a constable (in 1691) and later an ensign (in 1700) in the army stationed at Riga. The military archives records note he served as an apprentice "fyrverkare" at the age of 16 having by then already spent 4 years in service. He was probably the son of Wilhelm [SSNE 2390]. He was probably related to Carl [SSNE 2387]
