Adam Cunningham was first a captain of Scottish infantry in Stralsund, then he became captain in Alexander Leslie's [SSNE 1] recruited regiment, and later acaptain in Gerdt Weissmeyer's recruited squadron. He eventually served as a lieutenant-colonel. He had two sons, Adam [SSNE 2112] and Benedictus [SSNE 6628]. In 1662 his son Adam was granted a birthbrieve from the Privy Council of Scotland noting his noble Scottish origins, which had been vouched for by his noble friends of the House of Cunningham.
