University of St Andrews Staff 129-4 (20 overs) beat Dundee University Staff 83-8 (20 overs) by 46 runs (S. Frankland 46*, J. Alloway 38) (H. Kulaindevelu 2-12, P. Jess 2-18)
St Andrews notched up their first T20 win of the season with a convincing performance against Dundee University Staff. After being asked to bat first St Andrews lost their 1st wicket for 14, Dominic hitting a full-toss to midwicket. Jamie and Tom then put on a partnership of 35, mixing some excellent strokes with a lot of airshots before Tom was clean bowled. With Abdul falling for a duck soon after it was left to Jamie and Stan to try and advance the scoring rate with some big shots - Jamie eventually falling for 38 whilst Stan remained unbeaten for 46 from only 28 balls to take the score to 129 at the end of the innings. In reply St Andrews fielded admirably in some gloomy and damp conditions, Stefan in particular doing some excellent work. With Alyn and Stan opening with tight spells the Dundee openers were unable to really get going, Alyn finishing with a wicket maiden (and excellent figures of 1-12) to leave them at 24-1 after 7 overs, and well behind the required rate. Pat and Abdul continued the good work, with Abdul taking the important wicket of Adelman thanks to an excellent catch by Harish. Abdul then chipped in with a runout (making up for two later drops) before Trideep showed quick thinking behind the stumps with the batsman wandering out of his crease to give Pat his second wicket. Harish finished the innings off with two further wickets, both bowled, with Dominic bringing himself on to take the final wicket to fall as the gloom descended. A clinical performance in some miserable conditions showing St Andrews can win T20 matches.
