Forthill 178-8 (20 overs) beat University of St Andrews Staff 141-5 (20 overs) by 37 runs
On a sunny evening in Broughty Ferry a slightly 'experimental' side faced Forthill on a soft pitch with huge boundaries. Anything short was dispatched by the thunderous hitting of A. Hill who rattled the score up with ease, before falling to Mark Ashworth in the 9th over having contributed 64 to the score of 90-2 at that point. The introduction of Tom's leg spin did little to calm things down but smart run outs by Paul and Mark plus Dom's remarkable spell of 2-1-2-4 slowed the rate of accumulation in the closing overs, leaving Forthill on a fairly monumental 178-8. As the sun dipped below the pavilion and the dew made the outfield harder to score along, Tom and Uday built a marvellous partnership after some early hitting by Phil and Abdul had got us off to a decent start. They had reached 91 in the 12th over with the target not looking impossible when Uday was dismissed for a fine 24, followed 3 overs later by Tom whose batting form looks to have returned in his innings of 55. Mark accumulated a risk free 24, running well with Tim Stojanovic whose welcome return promised some more middle order runs this season. Our final score of 141 was very respectable given the absence of several regulars and without a couple of expensive overs here and there when Hill and Walker hit out, the result might have been closer.
