Falkland 144-4 (20 overs) beat University of St Andrews Staff 116-4 (20 overs) by 28 runs
(Frankland 66*, Jess 1-15)
St Andrews battled their way through the roadworks and tractors of Fife for a 20/20 against Falkland After losing the toss and being asked to field, Jon and Phil started out tidily, with Phil taking a caught and bowled chance to take the first wicket cheaply. Unfortunately that was as good as it would get for a while as the the two senior players, including their 2nd XI captain, set about the change bowling to put on a stand of 106. With the no. 3 batsman retiring for 50, the next ball the remaining opener was run out attempting a second, Dominic firing in a throw for Roshan to complete the run out. The only other wicket to fall was in a tight final over bowled by Pat, Stan clinging on to a catch at mid-off, as Falkland finished on 144.
With Roshan and Dominic forming the fourth opening partnership of the season, the innings got off to a slow start before Dominic was caught at mid-off attempting to force the pace. Roshan followed soon after courtesy of a catch parried from slip to gully, leaving us precariously placed at 12-2. Tom and Stan settled the innings with a partnership of 30 with some intelligent running before Tom too perished attacking.
Stan continued along unperturbed, and with the assistance of Dave striking two 4s in the final over, kept the margin of defeat to a respectable 28 runs, Stan finishing on an excellent 66 not out off just 45 balls.
Special mention should go to Tom's recruitment skills and abuse of power, and to James for filling in admirably at the last moment.
