St AUSCC (105 for 4, S. Frankland 50*, K.Ancell 1/13) beat Dundee High School Former Pupils (104 for 8, D. Bailwal 51*, J. Farnham 1/13) by 6 wickets
Another pleasant Wednesday evening game eventually kicked off against a slightly depleted Dundee HSFP side who were invited to bat first. The first 7 overs were evenly balanced with one wicket falling to Stan's vicious lifting off breaks, courtesy of another neat stumping from Tom H. Joe and Baggers kept up the good work and took a wicket apiece with good spells of bowling, assisted by catches from Patrick and debutant Mark Ashworth. Mark then came on to bowl a waspish spell of 4-0-25-4, cleaning up the tail in tandem with Santos. Dundee scored 104-8, the bulk of the runs coming from a fine knock of 51 by Dinesh Bailwal. The total would have been higher but for some excellent ground fielding from the whole team, Abdul and Richie in particular.
With the light fading and accurate bowling from Dundee, Dom and Stan slowly gathered runs without too many alarms until Dom fell in the 11th over for 21. Tom Hine introduced some much needed acceleration to the chase with some fine running between the wickets. He enjoyed the running so much that in a moment of some calling confusion he made it down to the strikers end then back into his own ground without getting run out - a remarkable feat! However, with a comfortable victory in sight, we contrived to make things interesting as Tom went LBW to Bailwal and Vikash was run out by Stan - his first victim of the year, but surely not his last :) Abdul then departed LBW to the very promising 11 year old Khalil, ensuring that the game went into the final over, Stan cracking a 4 to seal the game and his own 50.
A very friendly encounter with Dundee and a win for Vice Captain Dom, finally breaking his run of rain affected encounters!
