St AUSCC (129 a.o.) beat Cupar (less than 129 a.o.) by many runs Yes, a fine team performance capped off with a win against Cupar! A rapid opening from Stan & Dave was supported by Tom and then Bev who rattled things along to 120 in the 16th over. In searching for a few late order runs, the middle order sacrificed themselves to the slog and a sequence of comedy run outs ensured that we ended up with 129 a.o. off the last ball. Cupar needed to start well but were held in check by a superb opening bowling spell by Tim and a miserly off spinning masterclass from Stan. With two Wilkinsons accounted for and one blocking womanfully in the middle, the required run rate continued to climb, despite a biffing performace from the Cupar middle order. The change bowers gave little away as Uday and Bev maintained a splendid line and length. Much improved ground fielding and several well taken catches ensured that the target became academic - just as well since the Captain brought himself on to "bowl" the last over. Wickets were shared around Tim, Patrick, Baggers, Bev, Tom and a run out from Lewis (who is quick to identify a run out opportunity, whoever is batting). A much improved all round performance which should provide confidence for Sunday's match against Largo.
