Match Report - Dundee University Staff, 20th May 2008

Our current run of victory continues with a third win on the trot at home against Dundee Uni in the 20/20 yesterday.

After a late start due to us having to remove some moronic super 8's players from our pitch we (I think) lost the toss and were put in the field. Angus and Matt opened the bowling in good style, resulting in an early wicket for Matt. The next wicket fell to David with a regulation catch going to Ivan who had just put his cigarette down for long enough to oblige. Another wicket for David from a high catch taken well by Stu with the gloves gave Dave impressive figures of 2 for 8 off 4 overs, making him the pick of the bowlers (you the man captain - pick me please!). A much improved bowling performance from McBaggers and tidy bowling from Stan (who deserved about 8 run outs) and Gregor backed up the earlier good work. Generally good work in the field all round, especially by Stu with the gloves. The moment of the match was a superb fielding master class by Baggers. If anybody wants to know how to (in this order) miss the ball, fall over, mistake a six yard box for the boundary, stop and have a rant at yourself, then after much abuse from teammates get up and return the ball, all without the ball actually crossing the rope you know the man to teach you. Good work!

WIth a respectable score on the board from Dundee the opening partnership of Matt and I went out and began in style. After a quick single from Matt and several fine leaves from me, waving the bat towards the ball just to demonstate that it was going wide, all was looking good. Some riduclous umpiring resulted in my dismissal for LBW. Theres no excuse for giving it just because the ball hits your pads on line, is going to hit and you haven't moved your feet out of the crease. With Matt joining me later for 11 it was left to David and Tom to put in the hard work. A fine performance from David for 25 was impressively surpassed by Tom C who finished 58 not out, with at least one monster 6. Both batsmen made things look easy and took full advantage of some indifferent Dundee fielding. After Daivd's dismissal Andy and then Ivan came in to help Tom out, who by this time was flying, With some concern over Tom tiring himself Ivan decided to try and steady the run rate a bit, by, I think, moon walking several runs. After a not unsurprising run out for Ivan, Stu came in and hit the remaining 9 runs leaving an over and a bit to spare.
