Cupar 128-6, I. Wilkinson 51, A. Jayasundera 3-0-14-3 StAUSCC 129-2, M. Harrison 68 n.o. A lovely evening for cricket and a return to winning ways for the team. Cupar batted first and despite some hard hitting could not escape from Tom Elliott's opening spell without significant damage, batsmen Glen, Traynor and Stonebridge all succumbing to Tom's spell of 4-0-20-3. As so often in the past Cupar's Ian Wilkinson proved a thorn in our side, scambling singles and forcing his side beyond 100 despite steady bowling from Gregor. A golden spell from Anil provided Eric with his third catch behind and supplied Andy Vivian and Tom Clemens with catching practice - the latter a juggled affair to dismiss Wilkinson for 51. Cupar finished on 128 - a good 20/20 score which was held in check by some respectable all round fielding. Our reply started carefully with Cupar's openers maintaining an accurate line which frustrated Ivan into giving a catch to mid on. Mike and Tom C sorted out some early confusion in the calling and running department and began to move the rate above 6 an over with some fine strokes and aggressive running. Mike looked settled in for another big score and duly passed 50 to take his season tally above 300 runs so far. Although he lost Tom's company in the 14th, the die had been cast as Cupar brought on their South African speedster Stonebridge whose wayward first over cost him 17 runs. Aided by some addled fielding, Mike and Andy ran Cupar ragged, keeping the runs mounting until the winning post was reached with four balls to spare.
