Millimetre Wave Radar: Research with Security Scanners, Boats, Volcanoes, Drones, Frogs & Geckos
Dr David Macfarlane
The mm-wave group is probably the most applied research group in the St Andrews Physics department. We design, build and deploy systems for field use with a wide range of scientific and commercial projects. One of our main specialities is millimetre wave radar: high resolution radar that can be used to image objects.
I will give an overview of how our radars are used and have been developed over the last 15 years as well as demonstrating the SAFIRE room scanning radar live.
