Young Artist Award

2007: Wild Things

The theme for 2007 was 'Wild Things'. Pupils were invited to create a 2D or 3D artwork inspired by the natural history collections at the University’s Bell Pettigrew Museum. Over 300 pupils from schools across Fife took part in educational workshops and we received a total of 372 entries.

1st and 2nd prizes were awarded in each of the following competition categories:

  • Category A - Special Education Schools
  • Category B - Primary 1 to Primary 3
  • Category C - Primary 4 to Primary 7
  • Category D - S1 to S3

Entries were judged on:

  • Originality and creativity
  • Confident handling of materials
  • Boldness and impact
  • An obvious link to collections at the Bell Pettigrew Museum

The judges were impressed by the amount of time and effort which had been put into all of the artworks and awarded Special Merits to 18 additional pupils. A list of all the winners and images of their work can be seen below.
