Module description

The module includes lectures on carbon-carbon bond formation, interconversion of functional groups, aromatic and heteroaromatic reactivity, mechanistic biological chemistry and organic spectroscopy.

  • Understand and apply the principles of retrosynthetic strategy to design syntheses of simple organic compounds
  • Understand basic principles of synthetic medicinal and biological chemistry
  • Undertake experiments in synthetic organic chemistry and perform routine spectroscopic analysis
