Module description

This advanced version of the core science communication and public engagement module will allow students to further develop their skills incorporating issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, including accessibility, into their science communication for public engagement. They will have an introduction to stop-motion animation and, explore in more detail the process of organising and initiating a successful social media campaign, as well as organising more traditional community outreach and engagement. Finally, students will explore strategies for evaluating the various public engagement approaches and reporting those results. Throughout, we define “public” broadly to include different science, policy, political communities, corporate and state entities, as well as NGOs and social and environmental movements led by “lay publics”.
