Module description
Students will undertake an Honours level Student-Selected Component (SSC) research project. This SSC will enable students to pursue an area of their own particular interest at an advanced level. SSCs will involve one of the following: - lab/data based primary research project or a critical review project.

BEFORE TAKING THIS MODULE YOU MUST PASS MD3001 AND PASS MD3002
Assessment pattern
Coursework = 95%, Practical Examination = 5%

Coursework = 95%, Practical Exam = 5%

Weekly contact
A regular meeting with supervisor of up to one hour per week, plus regular workshops.

- develop an understanding of scientific methods, including technical and ethical principles used when designing experiments and other research
- develop an inquisitive and questioning attitude and apply rational thought process develop reflective practice using a portfolio entry for a significant learning event
- be able to formulate a workplan in order to complete a task at an appropriate level in a defined time frame
- summarise the findings of the dissertation topic and present them to an audience
- understand the structure and organisation of a scientific paper be competent in the use of literature searching using online methods
