The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

Module description

This module covers a variety of strands that equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare for entry on a degree in Medicine at a UK institution. This module develops the academic reading and writing skills necessary to succeed in scientific and medical studies. The module develops oral communication skills required to gain entry to study medicine. The module also introduces students to the structure and challenges of the NHS and different medical systems around the world and to medical ethics and the role it plays in current medical practice. Assessment for this module is coursework based and assesses students written and oral communication skills.
