SCOTCAT credits

The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits are half the value of SCOTCAT credits.

Module description

This module aims to introduce students to the history of medieval Europe, c. 1000-1500. This module takes a thematic approach to the subject, examining not only key dates, events, and rulers, but also social and cultural movements. Themes and topics may include political and economic structures, gender and family relationships, warfare, art and architecture, religious devotion, and everyday life. The module will also introduce students to source analysis, essay writing, and research skills.
