The Scottish Credit Accumulation and Transfer (SCOTCAT) system allows credits gained in Scotland to be transferred between institutions. The number of credits associated with a module gives an indication of the amount of learning effort required by the learner. Module description

The 30-credit iteration of the work-based project module is designed to be a standalone module offered in semester 2 of the Museum and Heritage studies MLitt degree. Students will build a range of practical and transferable skills during a period of work that will be instrumental in securing employment upon graduation. A portfolio of projects, developed with a range of cultural institutions will be offered to students. It is envisaged that these will encompass a breadth of activities from collections management to audience development, from digital engagement to policy creation. Students will spend 60 hours at the host institution (arranged in mutually agreed working pattern) during the second semester of the academic year. Additional time will be spent writing assessed outputs. Students will be supported academically by Museum and Heritage Studies staff throughout through regular meetings and discussion of reflective journal entries.
