In this joint degree programme delivered by both the University of St Andrews and the College of William & Mary in Virginia, USA, students will learn the history of medieval and early modern Europe, Scotland, England, the British Empire and the Middle East, as well as North America from the early colonial period to the 20th century, Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia.

An introduction to understanding Scotland’s unique historical development and place in the wider world, covering a range of periods from the Dark Ages to modern Scotland.

Medieval History and Archaeology MA (Honours)
Combines aspects of archaeology and material culture with various medieval historical issues and geographic locations, focusing on the study of culture and society of medieval Europe and the Middle East, rather than archaeological science.

Middle East Studies MA (joint degree)
Taken as a joint degree in combination with other subjects, students will study the history of the Middle East and understand this culturally diverse and strategically important region of the world, one which is rarely out of the news at present.
