There are two ways in which University of St Andrews matriculated students can obtain help with vocal and instrumental tuition costs through the Music Centre: scholarships and the Hebdomadar’s Music Fund.
Choral, vocal and instrumental scholarships are awarded after competitive auditions at the start of the academic year. Auditions for St Salvator’s Chapel Choir also take place at certain times during the rest of the year. Organ scholarships are awarded by the University organist to existing students.
Music scholars are expected to play an active role in the musical life of the University by taking part in performances, masterclasses, workshops, services and other activities.
The Hebdomadar’s Music Fund assists students in financial need who would otherwise be unable to afford music lessons. Applications to this fund are assessed in confidence and cover half the cost of weekly music lessons.
You can find further details of all these awards on the Music Centre's scholarships and bursaries webpage, or in the Music Scholarships and Bursaries leaflet, available from the Music Centre.
