The University of St  Andrews wants all students to reach their full academic potential. We recognise that if you have experienced forced migration you may have faced significant barriers and disruption to your education. The University has implemented a range of support measures to help you.

University of Sanctuary

University of St Andrews was proud to gain Sanctuary status in September 2019. This award recognises our commitment to ensuring that St Andrews is a welcoming, safe and supportive environment for students and scholars seeking sanctuary in the UK.

Admissions 

When making an application to us, please let us know that you currently have asylum, refugee, humanitarian protection or LLR status as part of your application. This will allow us to ensure that we can offer you the correct advice and guidance through the application process and beyond, should you become a student with us. 

As part of the application process, you will be asked to submit evidence of any qualifications held. If, due to your circumstances, you are unable to provide this evidence, we pledge to take a flexible approach to work with you to try and agree on a suitable alternative. 

We may also ask you to submit Home Office documentation to confirm your status. This will allow us to ensure we have all the correct information to support you and is in line with our Contextual Admissions process and policy.
