The Sutton Trust Summer School at St Andrews
Apply for the 2025 Summer School now
Since 1997, The Sutton Trust has worked to boost social mobility for young people across the UK. Higher education should be accessible to all students, regardless of their family’s social or economic background, and the University of St Andrews has worked alongside the Trust for the last 20 years for this very reason.
What is the Sutton Trust Summer School?
Every year, the University hosts a free, week-long, residential summer school for state school students in S5 (Scotland), Year 12 (England/Wales), or Year 13 (Northern Ireland). This is your chance to get a taste of what studying at university is like and to learn how to make stand-out applications to leading universities.

What happens during the week?
During the summer school, you'll dive into a mixture of academic and social activities. You'll pick two subjects to study, attend lectures, and get involved in St Andrews' traditions. Plus, there will be sessions on the UCAS application process, personal statements, and student finance to help you feel confident about your journey to university.
