Below is a list of alternative funding or private educational loan options that are commonly used by University of St Andrews students.
This is not a comprehensive list of all the educational funds available. You are not required to select one of these lenders. Inclusion on this list is not an endorsement or recommendation by the University of St Andrews.

Each lender's loan programmes may have different requirements. Be sure to check with your lender regarding the loan programmes you qualify for that best suit your needs.

- Sallie Mae loan application and solicitation disclosures
- Earnest Loans
- Veteran Affairs/GI Bill® and related benefits - this funding is administered by the St Andrews US Loan team. Please direct any enquiries to usloan@st-andrews.ac.uk.
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award
Aid from your state government
Other than federal aid, you might be eligible for financial assistance from your state. Contact your state grant agency for more information.
Some lenders offer private loans or assistance to residents of specific states:
- New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority
- Vermont Student Assistance Corporation
- St Andrews Society of North Carolina
- Bank of North Dakota
- Saint Andrew’s Society of the State of New York
Check with your specific lender regarding their process for certification and disbursement and whether they offer loans to students studying outside of the US.
