The Rector's Fund is committed to supporting students pursuing a summer internship. Previous recipients' projects have focused on topics including:

  • endangered species conservation
  • refugee emergency response teams
  • pro bono legal work in underserved communities.

There are many ways to improve the world: if you can justify what you want to do and have financial need, we will assist you.

This is a very competitive scholarship, so please be aware of this when planning.

Value of award (per year)

Individual awards of up to £500 towards summer internship projects.

Duration of award

A one-off award to be paid in Semester 2.

Any matriculated student (including postgraduates) can apply for this award.

You must have accepted an internship offer at the time of your application to the Rector's Fund.

Scholarships will be awarded primarily based on need, but academic merit will also be considered.

Applicants will need to upload:

  • personal statement
  • CV
  • academic transcript.

Your personal statement should cover topics such as:

  • What motivates you to make positive change?
  • How will the Rector's Fund help your current financial situation?
  • How will your internship further your career?
  • How will your internship contribute to a wider impact?
