Professional Staff Week
Since 2019, the Global Office has coordinated a Staff Week for some of our strategic partner universities, in which participants engage in English lessons and professional training led by professional staff at St Andrews. The Global Office also supports individual professional staff visits from our partner universities. These individual visits are usually hosted by a team of professional staff in a School or Unit at St Andrews, or equivalent teams at our partner universities.
Professional staff from Academic Schools and Units across the University are involved in welcoming colleagues from our partner universities and supporting Staff Week activities. Professional staff at St Andrews gain the chance to discuss ideas, work practices and ongoing projects with colleagues from other world-leading universities. Professional staff from our partner universities enjoy sharing perspectives with their St Andrews counterparts, and many conversations continue long beyond the Staff Weeks.
While professional staff internationalisation is a key objective for our partner universities, it is hard for professional staff to undertake such opportunities, especially for those who do not have an advanced level of English. The University of St Andrews is proud to host professional staff from its partner universities, and support them to improve their English language skills.
Due to the volume of requests we receive and the time required to organise and support professional staff visits, it is impossible for us to welcome all colleagues from other higher education institutions.
