Student-Athlete Global Leadership

7 June - 28 June 2025

The Student-Athlete Global Leadership course forms an intensive, interactive programme which will enable students to build their skills and confidence in leadership by focusing on key elements of self-leadership: developing leadership, team-working and generating outputs, and articulating leadership skills. Students will then utilise this knowledge to undertake a team project solving a real-world problem. The course will take a broad overview of leadership enabling student-athletes to draw on their sporting experience and think about how that translates to the world outside of sport.

The programme will give students the opportunity to:

  • Understand different approaches to leadership, including various leadership styles.
  • Develop their leadership skills through real life opportunities with a focus on social innovation (and sport).
  • Reflect on a personalised DiSC leadership profile and identify skills strengths for a changing world.
  • Create a report that reflects on the experience of undertaking a project
  • Create and build an individual skills profile and development plan, and gain confidence in articulating this in an employer context.
  • Contribute to and interact with the local Scottish community.

Additionally, students will have access to our Saints Sports Centre facilities for training. Facilities include a gym and fitness suite with cardio, resistance, free weights and functional training, an outdoor gym, and a performance suite.
