- Offers made by the University to Summer Schools are usually unconditional, but a conditional offer may be issued where:
- an applicant has not yet satisfied English language proficiency requirements
- an academic reference has not yet been received
- the results of courses in semester 1 of the current academic year have not yet been received.
- In either case you should accept your offer as soon as possible, and not later than 24 March 2025.
- If the offer you receive is a conditional one, you have until 24 March 2025 to upload your academic transcript, academic reference, or proof of English language through the applicant portal.
- Once you have accepted your offer of a place and met all the conditions of your offer and if you require a permit to enter the UK, you will be sent a letter of support as a Standard Visitor or, if required, a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to obtain a Student Visa.
- The programme fee for Fieldwork courses is
- £5,510
- The programme fee must be paid in full to ensure your place is secure. Payment can be made by the following methods.
- Pay by international bank transfer (Preferred method of payment).
- Pay by credit or debit card.
When making a payment by bank transfer or credit card, please choose the ‘Summer Schools’ option and enter the relevant amount. You will need your student ID, provided in your offer letter, to make the payment.
- Should you decide to withdraw from the programme, please contact the Summer Schools Coordinator (shortcourses@st-andrews.ac.uk) as early as possible. You will not be entitled to a refund if you withdraw on or after date on which the academic programme begins (7 June 2025).
Where a partner institution or provider wishes to sponsor the student’s programme at the University of St Andrews, they should contact the Summer Schools Coordinator (shortcourses@st-andrews.ac.uk) before the student submits their application. In this case, the partner or provider will be invoiced after the start of the programme.
- Should the University decide to cancel the programme before the starting date, you will be refunded all of the payments you have already made to the University.
- The University does not provide travel insurance of any kind. Students are strongly encouraged to purchase travel interruption, cancellation and travel medical insurance in order to insulate themselves from costs that they may otherwise be responsible for paying.
- Although every effort will be made to adhere to the advertised details of the programme, the University reserves the right to modify any aspect of the programme as necessary. Should the University require to make changes that materially affect your programme, the University will inform you.
- We expect all our students to follow the University’s code of conduct. Students whose conduct is deemed unacceptable may be dismissed from the course.
- Please inform the Summer Schools Coordinator (shortcourses@st-andrews.ac.uk) prior to the programme if you have any existing or potential medical issues, or if you have food allergies (celiac, peanuts, etc.). All such information will be held in strictest confidence and only shared to other staff (teaching faculty, student services, accommodation services, excursion leads) where necessary. It may be that a student cannot participate in a field trips or co-curricular activity if they have a medical condition(s) that cannot be managed safely or where a condition would prohibit full participation. The University assesses such via risk assessment. If you have any questions, please direct them to the Summer Schools Coordinator.
- Please be aware that we are not permitted to provide medication hence you need to carry whatever medication you might require (e.g. inhalers, epi pens, antihistamine, diabetic drugs).
Data protection
- Any information collected by the University is used fairly, stored safely and not disclosed to any other person unlawfully, in compliance with the data protection principles that are set out in the GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- As this is a programme which is run in collaboration with a partner organisation, the University will be required to share your personal data with them for the administration of the programme.
- This will also include information about any existing or potential medical issues (such information will be held in strictest confidence), food allergies and dietary requirements. This information will be requested separately upon acceptance onto the programme.
