English language support
The International Education Institute at St Andrews provides free language support for matriculated students who are users of English as an additional language through the Academic English Service (AES).
AES offers three main forms of language support:
- tutorials
- workshop programmes
- independent study material.
It is recommended that applicable students come along to an introductory tutorial. In this tutorial, your tutor will help you to determine and prioritise your needs and then develop an individual study programme based on this set of priorities.
Modules
There is a selection of modules available at sub-honours level which are recommended for exchange and study abroad students who are users of English as a second or additional language. These modules all have a module code starting with 'ET'. Find out more about English language modules.
Pre-sessional courses
Postgraduate students may be interested in taking either a pre-sessional English course before they arrive. These courses may be a condition of your offer, but are strongly recommended for all international students so you may better orient yourself with the town and a new culture, as well as to better prepare for your future studies.
