Appointments: undergraduate students

Advising meetings take place during orientation week. The location of your advising meeting, and the process for setting your appointment time, depends on your programme.

If you will be unable to meet with your adviser by the end of orientation week for any reason, please email registry-ug@st-andrews.ac.uk.

 

New Full-time Undergraduate Degree students

An email will be sent to your University account from Registry, around the end of August, confirming your Adviser of Studies.

You will also receive an email from your Academic School with arrangements for in-person advising.


BA International Honours students

If you are beginning your first year on the programme:

An email will be sent to your University account from Registry, around the end of August, confirming your Adviser of Studies.

You will also receive an email from your Adviser of Studies with arrangements for in-person advising.

If you are beginning your second year on the programme:

You must attend an online advising meeting on Microsoft Teams in the week commencing Monday 1 September 2025. Your Adviser of Studies will send you details of how to book an appointment.


New Inbound Exchange and Study Abroad students

You must attend an online advising meeting on Microsoft Teams. An email will be sent to your University account from Registry, around the end of August, confirming your Adviser of Studies and providing details of how to book an appointment.


New and re-engaging Combined Studies (Evening Degree) students

An email will be sent to your University account from your Adviser of Studies with arrangements for advising.


Junior Honours students

If you are entering Honours for the first time, you must attend an advising meeting either in person or on Teams. You should check the advising arrangements with your Adviser of Studies.

The advising system will be available from Monday 1 September 2025, and advising meetings may take place in that week, although individual Advisers of Studies may not be available until Orientation Week.


Senior Honours students

If you have already completed at least one Honours year, you must either attend an advising meeting in person or on Teams, or agree your module choices via email with your Adviser of Studies. You should check the advising arrangements with your Adviser of Studies.

If you are returning from Leave of Absence or are trailing credit, you must meet with your Adviser of Studies either in person or on Teams.

The advising system will be available from Monday 1 September 2025, and advising may take place in that week, although individual Advisers of Studies may not be available until Orientation Week.
