Claire Simpson Love

Critical Responder

Claire joined the University in the role of Critical Responder within Student Services in August 2024. The primary focus of her role is to provide triage, welfare support and ongoing referral to students presenting with a wide range of issues at the weekends. She enjoys this part time role as it gives her time with her family and time to focus on her own studies.

She studied Psychology with Human Health at Heriot Watt University and has gone on to complete modules in Mental Health Studies through the Open University. Along with working in a variety of roles supporting young people with additional support needs, she has worked extensively with young carers, supporting their mental health needs, being an advocate and helping them to access education and work. More recently she has supported students with autism to access and overcome the barriers of higher education with one to one support.

Outside of work she enjoys time outdoors, hillwalking, gardening, baking, swimming and spending time with her family and friends.
