Together, they combine interests in virology and RNA biology, applying novel approaches to the study of virus replication and assembly.
Dave Rowlands has a particular interest in the structure and function of the 5’-untranslated region of the genome and the role of multiple copies of the VPg protein in replication.
Nicola Stonehouse has a long-standing interest in inhibitors of replication, especially the viral polymerase. These include the use of RNA aptamers as novel molecular tools.
