Staff: Prof. Dave Rowlands, Prof. Nic Stonehouse,
Dr. Morgan Herod, Dr. Clare Nicol, Jamie Kelly, Eleni-Anna Loundras
and Joseph Ward.
Nicola
Stonehouse and Dave Rowlands have worked together on aspects of picornavirus
biology since 2002. Together, they combine interests in virology and
RNA biology, applying novel approaches to the study of virus replication
and assembly.
Dave
Rowlands has a particular interest in the structure and function of
the 5’-untranslated region of the genome and the role of multiple
copies of the VPg protein in replication.
Nicola
Stonehouse has a long-standing interest in inhibitors of replication,
especially the viral polymerase. These include the use of RNA aptamers
as novel molecular tools.
