Raising funds for OmWana

Harmonie Klein (PhD student) and Eve Holden would like to thank members of the School for supporting a plant sale which raised £126 for the OmWana charity founded by Harmonie.

Omwana is a charity that helps Ugandan pupils in need gain sustainable access to long-term education. All donations collected are dedicated to tuition and boarding fees.

A note from Harmonie:

I founded the charity in July 2022 and an inhabitant of Kaseeta, Solomon Owata, is co-managing the project with me on the ground. We focus our efforts on the Kaseeta parish, surrounding the Bugoma forest.  This is an area where Cat Hobaiter is also co-leading a research project.

We are currently helping 10 pupils, including 7 young girls, who, in Uganda, have less access to education (i.e., only 1 out of 4 girls goes to school).

People can find more about our project on our website and any social networks (Instagram, FaceBook, X-Twitter). If people can afford it, they can make a one-off or monthly donation to help us, or even contact us to sponsor one of our pupils for their entire schooling life.

We deeply thank everyone who bought one of the plants during our plant sale event and especially Eve Holden for her dedication to our cause.
