Senior Research Laboratory Manager
Research areas
Graham is Senior Research Laboratory Manager in the Optical Manipulation Group (www.opticalmanipulationgroup.com)
Graham's research covers a number of areas in the field of optics. He uses lasers to control and manipulate objects ranging from single atoms to micron-scale glass beads, to enable their use in quantum physics investigations. He also scrambles laser beams on rough surfaces and uses the resultant speckle pattern to perform metrology. Finally, he investigates methods of holographic laser beam shaping for a variety of applications.
In 2020, he was awarded the Silver Medal for physics at the prestigious STEM for Britain event.
