The School of Physics and Astronomy celebrated its third International Day Celebration on 26th August 2024 as organized by the EDI committee of the School. The successful event was well-participated by members from 18 countries (Turkey, Malaysia, Germany, Nigeria, Russia, Jordan, Spain, Algeria, Iran, Morocco, Brazil, Lithuania, Sri Lanka, Japan, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Ireland, UK and especially Scotland).
The event consisted of a potluck lunch from these international members of the School, displaying the national flag of each country, and special greeting words from them, and many members wore their traditional costumes too. School members could enjoy their lunch in the background music of more than 30 cultural songs from these countries which were played. There were some very exciting activities like Mystery table, guessing the national anthem, riddles on food and quiz on ingredients in different dishes, all of which were actively participated by the School members. We also had visitors from other Schools such as the School of Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The event was attended by more than 100 people.
