STARS Mentor/Reviewer Refresher Training

Key details: This is workshop is annual refresher training for colleagues with an existing category of AdvanceHE (HEA) Fellowship who are Mentors and/or Reviewers on the St Andrews Recognition Scheme.

Target audience

Staff who are Mentors and/or Reviewers on STARS.

Course pre-work

Will be circulated in advance. To read and provide feedback on an exemplar application.

Course information

STARS is an Advance HE accredited scheme that provides participants with structured opportunities and support to reflect on their practice and prepare a claim for recognition against the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023) Descriptors D1 (Associate Fellow), D2 (Fellow), or D3 (Senior Fellow), as appropriate to their context.

This workshop is annual refresher training for colleagues who are already Mentors and/or Reviewers on STARS.  

Pre-work (reading and providing feedback on an exemplar application) will be required.  This will be shared with participants in advance of the workshop.

Aims and objectives

The Aim of this workshop is to help participants develop insight ino gaining Fellowship of the Higher Education Academicy at Descriptors 1-3 and how to support others to do so.

By the end of the workshop participants will be:

  1. Familiar with the PSF2023 and the requirements of Fellowship

  2. Better able to guide applicants in their choice of Fellowship

  3. Provide supportive feedback and guidance to applicants, including those whose applications are 'Conditional' or 'Referred'
     
  4. Better able to make robust Fellowship judgements based on the PDF 2023
     
  5. Familiar with STARS processes
