Auditions

• Vocal and choral auditions

  Candidates for both vocal scholarships and choral scholarships should prepare two pieces which represent their current capabilities, preferably without reliance on sheet music. Candidates may be asked to sing one or both pieces. An accompanist will be provided: please bring sheet music for them to play from.

  Candidates for choral scholarships will be given sightreading and ear tests.

• Instrumental auditions (not piano)

  Instrumentalists are asked to prepare a piece they feel best reflects their abilities.  An accompanist is not required, nor provided, although you may bring your own if you would like to, and you may play repertoire that would otherwise be accompanied if you wish. For those auditioning for chamber orchestra there will be sightreading.

• Piano auditions

  Pianists should prepare a piece or movement of their choice, and there will also be a sightreading test.

• Byre Opera

  Byre Opera auditions will be held early in Semester 1.  Details will be confirmed here nearer the time.  Sign up via the audition booking platform.
