Listening to Music

The course that helps you learn what to listen for in classical music...

This popular class (now in its 34th year and still going strong) puts composers and their musical works into a social and historical context. University Music Consultant, Gillian Craig and visiting musicians, help you understand what to listen for rather than just hearing the music. Examples are taken from music from the 16th to 20th centuries, particularly works from the Scottish Chamber Orchestra concert repertoire which can be heard live in St Andrews. No previous musical knowledge or technical understanding is needed, just a love of classical music and the desire to learn more about it.

The classes are held in the Music Centre on Friday mornings at 10am - 12pm.

8 sessions beginning on Friday 20th September 2024
Fee £60
